Course Description

The Optometry Internship at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC) provides interns an excellent training experience in a full scope clinical setting. Interns gain experience, knowledge and skills in key optometry topics eg. Refraction, effective communication with patient, history taking, slit lamp examination, tonometry and other routine diagnostic procedures.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, the trainee will be able to:

Measure refractive errors of eye to determine proper prescription of eyeglasses for children and adults
Demonstrate knowledge of fitting, evaluating, prescribing and distributing different types of contact lenses
Describe psychological and social rehabilitation of the visually impaired using visual aids
Apply optometry skills such as slit lamp examination and tonometry during diagnostic procedures
