The Parenteral Nutrition Training Program is designed to equip trainees with essential clinical knowledge and practical skills in nutrition support, parenteral nutrition practice, and compounding. The program covers an overview of parenteral nutrition, managing electrolyte imbalances, and designing tailored nutritional regimens for patients. Trainees will learn to review drug therapy for potential interactions and make appropriate modifications. Additionally, the program emphasizes conducting nutritional assessments for patients with medical problems, ensuring comprehensive patient care in parenteral nutrition.

By the end of this training, the trainee will be able to:

1. Describe an overview of parenteral nutrition
2. Define the impact of electrolyte imbalances and how to manage them
3. Explain maintenance or restoration of optimal nutritional support and designing and modifying management according to patient needs
4. Decide an appropriate nutritional regimen for patients based on their unique clinical status and recommend appropriate modifications to an existing regimen
5. Review drug therapy prospectively for potential drug-drug, drug-laboratory test, drug-nutrient and drug-disease state interactions and recommend appropriate modifications in drug therapy, when appropriate, to avoid undesirable interactions
6. Implement a nutritional assessment
