The Sterile Preparation Training Program equips trainees with essential knowledge and skills for preparing and double-checking sterile products. Covering USP Chapter 797 guidelines and ASHP recommendations, the program emphasizes policies and procedures for sterile, cytotoxic, and hazardous medications. Trainees will learn both robotic and manual medication preparation systems, the principles of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), and hands-on aseptic techniques. The program includes pharmaceutical calculations, interpreting IV medication orders, and verifying intravenous preparations, ensuring comprehensive training in sterile preparation practices.

By the end of this training, the trainee will be able to:

1. Discuss the policy and procedures related to sterile preparation
2. Demonstrate the knowledge of United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Chapter 797 Pharmaceutical Compounding Sterile Preparations Guidelines
3. Discuss the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) recommendations related to sterile preparation, cytotoxic and hazardous medications
4. Recognize the medication preparation system (robotic or manual system) in the sterile preparation areas, explain the principle, advantages and disadvantages of each system
5. Describe the principles of TPN, including formulation of specialized solutions for different patient populations
